The systems operation principle is simple: a series of impulses is emitted at very high frequency (up to 83 Khz), then is reflected by the ground. The distance between the ground and the plane is then evaluated according to the measurement of the time of return of the impulse. One of the principal characteristics of the laser is the separability of the beam, recorded in the form of reverberations: a part is reflected by an object off-ground (vegetation, buildings) and the other reached the ground.
