The technology of the laser scanners, was developed in years 95. It allows a fast and precise acquisition of 3D points, while measuring the distance between a plane (or a helicopter) and the ground.
In order to ensure a precise position of the laser transmitter-receiver, the LIDAR (Light Ranging And Detection) uses a system of positioning composed of an embarked GPS receiver and an inertial power station (INS), coupled to a GPS station on the ground near the Flight zone.
Airborne laser system makes it possible to achieve better performance as any other technique, in the field of precision or density.
